Tips for Being a Chic Mom
Having children can change a lot of things in your life. Some things change for the better and some things, like your fashion sense, tend to get worse instead. If you want to regain your style that you had before becoming a mom and get out of your beauty rut, there is still hope for you. You can be a chic mom if you follow the fashion tips for moms outlined below.
The first thing that you need to do is make it a priority to want to change. Most moms are super busy, but you do need to find some time, at least in the beginning, to start transforming yourself into a chic mom. This may mean going shopping, going to the salon and spending some time putting yourself together.
You don’t have to dress like a runway model to look fashionable. You can look like a chic mom in a pair of jeans and shirt if you know how to dress properly. Your clothes should fit the body you have now and not the body you want or used to have. Your clothes shouldn’t be too baggy or too tight and should be clean at all times. When wearing jeans make sure that they don’t have holes in them, fit properly in every area of your body and are not tapered. At all cost, avoid wearing “mom jeans” which are ones that are high waisted (think above your belly button) and have a tapered leg. Skinny jeans are perfectly acceptable but tapered are not.
Go through your closet before you go shopping to see what you have to work with. Get rid of clothes that are ruined or don’t fit. If you are hoping to fit back into the clothes, pack them away for a while so you aren’t tempted to stuff yourself back into the too tight clothes. Get rid of any clothes that you haven’t worn in over 2 years as you most likely will never wear them again.
You don’t have to spend a lot of money on new clothes. In fact, at first you may just want to stick with the basics to enhance your wardrobe and make it more flexible. Things like jeans, a wrap dress, wedge sandals, a button up shirt and few nice tees can help enhance the wardrobe you already have. If you want to incorporate some trends into your wardrobe try to do it with inexpensive accessories like scarves and shoes.
Lastly, you don’t have to dress like everyone else to be a chic mom. Find your own style and work with it. If you like the retro or vintage look, then go with it and don’t worry about what others may think. Every woman has their own style and you can be a chic mom if you find that style and feel confident about it.
